Northern Star Scouting is committed to protecting your privacy and developing technology that provides a safe online experience. Collection of your Personal Information
Northern Star Scouting collects personally identifiable information to operate its fundraising platform effectively.
Information You Provide
Account Information: When you register for an account, we collect your given name, family name, email address, and Unit information (Unit type and number).
Transaction Data: When processing a donation, we collect information regarding the donor’s name, donor’s email address, the total of the transaction, the payment method (cash, check, or card), and the receipt ID from our payment processor.
Refund Requests: If a refund is requested, we collect the reason for the refund and associate it with the original transaction.
Payment Card Information
For card payments, Northern Star Scouting utilizes secure iframes provided by Clover.
Card Details: Sensitive payment data (card number, expiration date, CVV, and postal code) is entered directly into Clover's secure fields.
No Local Storage: Northern Star Scouting does not ever see or store your full credit card number or CVV. scoutingplantitforward.org only receives and processes a secure payment token from Clover to authorize the transaction.
Automatically Collected Information
Upon accessing scoutingplantitforward.org, Northern Star Scouting collects information about your computer hardware and software through use of Meta Pixel, Google Analytics, and/or CloudFlare Analytics. This information can include your IP address, browser type, page access times, and referring website addresses. This is used for the operation and quality maintenance of the service.
Use of Cookies and Data Storage
A cookie is a text file placed on your hard disk by a Web page server.
Analytics: Analytics Providers may use cookies to help us understand site utilization, specifically around re-visits and site navigation.
Authentication: scoutingplantitforward.org uses a session cookie to store a unique identifier. This identifier connects to Cloudflare Key Value (KV) storage to verify your login status and protect your account. No cookies are stored until you sign in.
Control: Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your settings to decline them. Declining cookies may prevent you from using interactive features, such as accessing your account.
Use of Your Personal Information
Northern Star Scouting does not sell, rent, or lease its customer lists to third parties. We use your information in the following ways:
Service Delivery: To track fundraising progress by Unit and individual Scout.
Payment Processing: Basic transaction data (transaction amount, payment method, and card details) are shared with Clover, our third-party payment processor, to facilitate secure card transactions. Clover does not receive any data other than this basic transaction data.
Infrastructure: All site logic is processed via Cloudflare Workers, and data is stored securely using Cloudflare D1 and KV services to utilize Cloudflare's security certifications and global infrastructure.
Communication: We use your email to provide support, such as to facilitate password resets.
Legal Disclosure: Northern Star Scouting will disclose your personal information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to conform to legal edicts, protect rights/property, or protect personal safety.
Security of your Personal Information
Northern Star Scouting secures your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.
Cloud-Native Security: All personally identifiable information and password hashes are stored in a controlled, encrypted environment provided by Cloudflare.
Encryption: When sensitive information (such as transaction details) is transmitted, it is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.
